Taleesha Caturah is a theater professional and actress originally from Gary In. She is passionate about using her craft as a form of education and enlightenment. In addition to acting, Taleesha Caturah is a writer and story teller. Through her written work, she aims to provoke independent thought for personal growth.

 

Recent theater credits include her role as Ruth in A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry; Lady in Green in For Colored Girls by Ntozake Shange and Kris Perry in "8" The Play - Marriage Equality  by Dustin Lance Black.

 

She can next be seen in Excellence Arts and Media Academy's original production Harlem Shadows: Lives of the Harlem Renaissance, where she will be portraying Angelina Weld Grimke.

 

Taleesha Caturah is also the creator of MUSE: Monologues for the Universal Soul's Enjoyment. A collection of monologues where intentfully, each character has his or her life lesson to be learned or remembered, owned and then displayed. Cultivating character building with heart, technique and compassion. These characters serve as a reminder to the portrayer as well as the observer, whoever they shall be. Written to challenge and expand actors in a personal way, these monologues will assist in unearthing a deeper connection between actor and craft.

 

Taleesha Caturah along with her partner Kukata Kali founded Zua Connections, a community resource partnership that is based on the principal of building community and unearthing the hightest potential in each human in each moment.
